Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, Stamford, CT

It was an absolute pleasure to host the New England Horticultural Therapy Network workshop day here at Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens in North Stamford, CT. The day began with a nice breakfast and introduction as guests arrived. It was a nice chance for everyone to get to know each other a little better. After breakfast, one of the Arboretum’s Master Gardeners, Elaine Hjelte, led a fantastic lavender wand making activity. It was surely the highlight of the day! All guests were able to make their own lavender wands to take home. They also learned how to teach other to make lavender wands so the skill was added to their horticultural therapy repertoire. After the morning session we broke for lunch and did some further networking. Once we reconvened around 12:30pm, we headed out on the arboretum’s grounds for a tour. We visited several gardens including our butterfly garden, perennial gardens and tropical gardens as well as notable tress. We even made a stop in the greenhouse. After our tour, there was a business meeting to wrap up the event. The weather was lovely and so was the program. Overall, it was a fantastic experience and we hope to see our new NEHTN friends at the Arboretum again soon!
